My Timeline

My Timeline

I was born on Wednesday the fourth of May 1994 at 4:28 in the morning at Nepean Hospital Penrith, New South Wales. I am the second child to my parents as my sister was born fifteen months and one day earlier on the third of February 1993. When I was three months old I got a bad cold that would not go away and mum insisted on seeing a specialist. At five months old I was diagnosed with Chronic Infantile Asthma and had to be on a nebuliser machine every four hours day and night. I started walking at nine and a half months and at ten months on the tenth of March 1995 my dad who was a sergeant in the Royal Australian Airforce, suffered a heart attack and died instantly. A week after my dads funeral, the Airforce flew us back to Perth where we lived with my nanna until my mum bought our house in Beechboro. I stopped having asthma attacks and twelve months later the doctors said I was asthma free and have been for 14 years now.

When I was two and a half, my Auntie Jeffery took Ashleigh and myself to Karratha. We stayed with Auntie Ruth and Uncle Fred. While we were there Jeffery would tell Ashleigh off for doing something wrong but if I did it she would say to Auntie Ruth, “isn’t that cute”. Auntie Ruth said I was a devil of a child and started calling me Taz after the Tasmanian Devil. The name has stuck with me ever since and now everyone calls me Taz, in fact when my mum calls me Taylor I think I’ve done something wrong.

In 1998, I started kindergarten I also began roller skating. Every Friday morning my sister and I went to Morley Rollerdrome and had lessons to learn to skate. We also played games and dances; it was a lot of fun. The following year I started pre-primary at Beechboro primary school. My sister and I started Tae Kwon Do, the Korean martial arts, later that year we also started swimming lessons at Bayswater Waves.

The start of 2000 was my first year at primary school with Mrs. Wheeler. It was also the year my nanna died. In grade two we got our cat Tiger a typical male, mum says because he is very self-centered, and he can be very nasty if he doesn’t get his own way, it was also the year of the chicken pox. I got it first and Ash two weeks later, but we also had our first bungee jump and, flew back to Karratha for a holiday. Grade three my cousin Brad and his pregnant girlfriend Liza moved down the road from us and in September baby Blake was born. We finished Tae Kwon Do and swimming lessons were at Altone Park.

2003 was grade four and the year we holidayed in Albany, also went to Monkey Mia and saw the dolphins. Our god parents flew over from Queensland to see us and spoil Ash and myself rotten. At the end of the year I finished swimming lessons and I had to wait till I was 14 to get my bronze metal which I still haven’t done. Next was grade five and not a very good year, but we went to Hyden to see wave rock and carry on to Esperance with Jeffery to see another auntie. We spent a week in Esperance looking around with Auntie Margaret and left there and went to Albany to a cousin’s house and spent another week there. The best was at Walpole and the tree top walk. Later in the year we went camping at Cervantes with Jeffery and Uncle Robert and saw the pinnacles. Nothing really happened in year six.

In year seven I won the talent show, I was star of the school play and I improved my writing skills by 170 percent. Near to Christmas my mums’ eldest brother past away and so did my Aunty Jean. That Christmas was the loneliest Christmas I have ever had because we all knew something was missing. I saw my uncle every weekend and I lost the chance to get to know him and just as we began talking and actually getting to know each other he died and I sat there and I watched him as we waited for the ambulance to arrive but it was too late. He had cancer and his livers failed.

In 2007 it was my first year in high school and was the worst year of my life. I got bullied every day and on the year 8 camp I bashed a girl into a door. It was also the year I went on the chaplain’s camp and abseiled down a 30 metre rock. I was also in music rocks where I learnt to play musical instruments. I also got into a fight with an Asian girl who I got her suspended and then got her expelled from the school. I tried to commit suicide.

In 2008 I was in year nine. It was better than year 8 but I was still getting teased a bit but I didn’t care anymore. Another year in music rocks and was the year I met Amy Kop a youth worker from Morley Salvation Army. She came to Hampton every Monday last period and that’s where we got to talk for a whole period about anything we wanted. It was also the year I lost and gained friends and I lost my best friend Ellen Annette because of her selfish ways. At the end of term four the girls from the girls group were invited to a Salvation Army camp. Angel, Jade, Teneisha, Shannen, Jess and I went and met new lovely people and some not so lovely.

In 2009 I was in year 10 and I began to go to church because Mikayla Polkinghorne invited me. I’ve been going to church ever since. I am a student councillor at Hampton Senior High School and loving it. I am now involved with a lot of things at Morley Salvation Army like morning church, teen scene, junior soldiers, bible study, night church, scope and girls group. I went on the chaplain’s camp and did abseiling, rafting, canoeing, rock climbing, walked for 19ks and canoed for 15ks. I went on the wheel of Perth. I did the 40 hour famine and filled in my application to become a youth ambassador. One person out of 22 was chosen and unfortunately it wasn’t me but there were fantastic people there who I hope to see again.
